The Fishing Project was established in 2007
Since then, the project has continued to develop around a simple belief:
Give people a positive environment, something worthwhile to focus on and people who believe they can do better.
Led by Mike Robbins and supported by volunteers and members of the local community, The Fishing Project uses fishing as a way to engage people who may benefit from a different environment and a fresh opportunity.
Whether it’s young people looking for something positive to do, adults rebuilding confidence, or disabled people seeking accessible fishing opportunities, we strive to make our club somewhere people feel welcome.

People come from different backgrounds, Different ages, Different experiences and Different starting points.
around the water, everyone has something in common.
You can learn from one another, Share a laugh. Help someone who’s struggling with their equipment, Talk about the day’s fishing Or simply sit quietly and enjoy being somewhere peaceful.
You don’t have to have everything figured out before you join us. Just come along.

Giving Something Back to the Places We Fish
Our work doesn't stop when the fishing rods come out.
Mike’s team of builders and volunteers also spend time improving the environments around the lakes where we fish.
That can include:
Clearing rubbish
Clearing overgrown areas
Removing waste and helping make fishing areas cleaner and more welcoming.
Cutting back overgrown vegetation to improve access and make better use of neglected spaces.
