A Different Direction Starts Here
Helping young people and adults find confidence, purpose and a positive community through fishing
Sometimes, changing someone’s direction starts with simply giving them somewhere positive to go.
The Fishing Project is a Bristol-based charity, led by Mike Robbins, using fishing and the outdoors to help people step away from difficult environments and discover a more positive way forward.
We work with young people, adults and people with disabilities, creating opportunities to fish, learn, build confidence and spend time around people who want to see them succeed.
For some, it’s about escaping the chaos of drugs, alcohol, violence and anti-social behaviour. For others, it’s about rebuilding confidence after difficult experiences, reconnecting with society or taking those first steps towards employment and a more positive future.

Helping Young People Find Another Path
For some youngsters, the environment around them can make positive choices difficult.
Helping Young People Find Another Path
For some youngsters, the environment around them can make positive choices difficult.
Drugs | Alcohol | Violence | Anti-social behaviour | Negative influences | A lack of positive opportunities
We provide young people with somewhere constructive to spend their time, people who will encourage them and an activity that gives them something to concentrate on and work towards.
We’re not here to judge where someone has come from. We’re interested in where they can go next.
It's Not Just Young People We Help
Positive change doesn't have an age limit.
We also welcome adults who may have become isolated or disconnected from positive social environments.
Some people who join us are looking to rebuild their confidence and reconnect with other people. Others are trying to move away from old habits and difficult periods in their lives.
In some cases, that means supporting people who have experienced drug dealing, violence or other destructive environments and helping them develop the confidence and mindset to consider a different future
